Route du Bouchet: Tel 04 50 53 05 09: Situated in the grounds of the Albert 1er Hotel, just a 2 min walk from the town square is Chamonix’s very own Michelin starred restaurant, which speaks for itself. Amazing food and some good value menus that will not require a re-mortgage. Relaxed atmosphere and none of the pomposity of many of the restaurants of this calibre.

Rue des Moulins: Sky TV. A don't miss! Also ranked #8 of 71 things to do in Chamonix by Lonely Planet travellers. Snowboarder fave with themed parties, big-screen sports and cheapish drinks.

Cabanon
Rue des Moulins: Bijou (i.e. titchy) French owned bar/club with some of the best DJs around. A mix of funky house and hip-hop, definitely cooler than the rest!

Rue Du Lyret, Tel 04 50 55 93 40: Chamonix’s own Italian, this close to the boarder you would expect nothing less than some of the best Italian around, and 'Casa’ as it’s known to the locals does not disappoint. Chambre Neuf
Avenue Michel Croz: Opposite the station this is Scandinavian owned and best apres-ski in town as it often has live bands in the early evening. Mad busy in the winter from 4.30 to 7pm, then more relaxed until later when the 2 for 1 cocktails appear.

Av. Michel Croz: Opposite the station and recently taken over by French owners, Elevation has nonetheless always had a local feel. Renowned for good value breakfasts and lunches (egg and sausage baguettes,,…), it’s also very popular at night.

9 Chemin du Cry, Tel 04 50 53 20 36: Located in an old family farmhouse in 1754, L'Impossible offer a kitchen with natural organic ingredients in accordance with the seasons. You will find meat and fish of the Italian gastronomic tradition, and also a great choice for vegetarians and gluten or lactose intolerant.

Les Praz, Route du Golf, Tel 04 50 53 23 27: Amazing log cabin style restaurant out by the golf course. Warm and homely in winter, cool and relaxing in summer, La Cabane is a great place to unwind after 18 holes or an amazing place for that special dinner occasion. Recommend booking.

Rue des Moulins: The chic new addition to Chamonix's night life, a great spot to while away an evening, with DJs providing the music and ambience and a large water mill adding to the decor.

Av. Michel Croz: Another new hot spot. Well made food made with no short-cuts allowed in the kitchen! They are open for lunch and dinner 7 days a week, plus daily apres-ski with funky service, great live music and DJ's, all enjoyed with classic cocktails and ice cold beers.

A mix of Alpine and English tastes, it is arguably the best and most reasonable food in Chamonix. Famous Ribs, Seafood Chowder, Burgers and Lamb Shanks are always a favourite. Whether you want a après snack or a fantastic dining experience, there will be something to suit!
