Our opinionThis is a quality development in an excellent location, close to the centre and the pistes. The big news though is the link announced between Alpe d'Huez and Les Deux Alpes, which will create a ski area with 450kms of piste. Both resorts have glacier skiing and are in the Global Top 20 for lift-served vertical skiing. Combined, they are in the Top 5.
As with all Alpine resorts, the summer business is ever increasing but Alpe d'Huez is already famous for road-biking, courtesy of biennial Tour de France visits and the 21 hairpins. That's now matched by the mountain biking and the infamous Megavalanche series, now in its 25th year.
