Ski Experiences

Husky dog sledding

One of the most popular activities to do in Chamonix in winter is to hop on the back of a sled pulled by husky dogs. Find out more.

Group Snowshoeing

This is a great activity for non skiers who want to explore the beauty of Chamonix’s mountains in winter. Follow your guide past frozen waterfalls, through snow covered pine trees and out into big snowy fields. Parts of the ski areas and trails nearer the valley floor have specially marked snowshoe trails, or you can choose to snowshoe across the Mer de Glace - the most well known glacier in France, to get your first experience of a high mountain environment. Cross Country Skiing

Ski de fond, Nordic skiing or cross country (XC) skiing, is a great way to explore Chamonix’s trails whilst keeping fit at the same time. There is a network of trails specifically for this sport, and you can choose to ski the ‘classic’ style or ‘skating’ style along them. You can hire special XC skis, poles and shoes from most sports shops in Chamonix, or at the various XC ski huts where you buy tickets to ski on the trails, which can be found typically where the trails start. Trails are graded green, blue and red for the different levels of difficulty.

Ski Touring

The Chamonix valley has ski touring trails suitable for all levels, whether you’re just starting out or looking for a more challenging multi-day adventure. The guides we work with will take you to areas suitable for your level of experience and the current weather conditions, to ensure you get the best out of the experience. Discover the glaciers around the Mont Blanc massif, head into Italy for a tour around the Grand Paradiso, ski tour from Chamonix to Zermatt on the Haute Route, or stay local in Chamonix and let your guide take you to some of the classic ski touring areas in the valley. Contact us now to book a guide.
