Avalanche Awareness Course

This course takes place over half a day (morning or afternoon) and is a really good investment of your time and money as it could save your or someone else’s life. Learn how to better understand the mountain environment, to help prevent avalanches and to know what to do if one does happen. You’ll be given a pack with transceiver, shovel and avalanche probe and will practise how to use them, as well as looking at layers in the snow pack, how wind affects snow and how to stay safe when you’re off piste. Contact us to book a place on the course.

Mountain Safety Course

This is a one day course to help you learn about avalanche awareness, plus the use of ropes, crampons, harnesses, ice axes and equipment needed to lift someone out of a crevasse. You’ll spend time learning how to search using the avalanche transceiver and how to make a pulley system as well as how best to evaluate risk and spot signs in the snowpack. Contact us to book a place on the course.

Ice Climbing Courses

Two ice climbing courses are available depending on your level of experience. For beginners the initiation course will introduce you to the equipment and techniques needed to climb some of Chamonix’s frozen waterfalls. The advanced course combines some winter mountaineering and ice climbing from 3-5 days and will involve you spending time in the high mountains. Safety equipment is provided. Contact us for more information or to book a place on one of the courses.

Introduction to Ski Touring

This one day course lets you discover some of the backcountry areas that Chamonix is famous for. You carve out your own trail, with incredible views and of course, finish with a nice descent at the end. Depending on your level of experience, your guide will choose the best places to go and teach you some handy tips and techniques along the way. Longer excursions with a private guide are also available. Contact us for more information.
