    1.  Who are Mountain Base?
    Mountain Base is based in Chamonix and is a French registered company (SARL Mountain-Base.com) that has been in operation for over 10 years.  We hold the Carte Professionelle (No. 1497/07), which enables us to operate as property professionals (Rental and Estate Agents) in France. 

    2.  What financial guarantees do I have when booking with Mountain Base?
    As part of the regulations for having the Carte Professionelle, we are obliged to maintain a financial bond of €197,000 against which clients' money is protected.  This operates in much the same way as ABTA in the UK.  We are also obliged to maintain professional liability and indemnity insurance.

    3.  What deposit do I pay and when is the balance due?
    We take a 25% deposit with the balance payable 8 weeks before arrival, unless the booking is made within 10 weeks of the arrival date, in which case the full balance is payable on reservation. You can see our booking conditions and information here.

    4.   Is there an option to insure my holiday? 

    In collaboration with ADAR insurance we are able to offer the option of holiday rental insurance- covering cancellation, interruption of your stay, and property damage liability. You can find more details on the following link:

    5.  Can I pay by credit card?
    We take Visa, Mastercard or Carte Bleu, but unfortunately not Switch, Maestro or American Express.  For any payment by card, there is a small (0.8%) fee to cover our banking charges.  We also accept a direct bank transfer to our French bank, or French Eurocheque.  Any banking fees are to be covered by the guest.

    6.  How do I get keys for the property?
    On arrival, you will be met at the property by one of our in-resort team.  They will show you round the property, answer any questions you may have and hand over keys.  You will be informed of the departure procedure and where to return the keys.  You will also be asked to complete a Security Deposit Form (see 7).

    7.  Is there a damage deposit?
    We ask that you fill out a Security Deposit Form on arrival, giving us the authority to hold €500 to €1000 against a credit card.  We do not take any funds unless there is any damage or nuisance caused.  We are not going to charge for fair wear and tear, such as a broken glass, but you are expected to treat the property and your neighbours with due care and will be charged if this is not respected.

    8.  Are pets allowed?
    Unfortunately, we have a general no pets policy, but exceptions can be made with prior agreement, subject to an additional cleaning charge.

    9.  Is smoking allowed in the properties?
    All of our properties are strictly non-smoking, although guests are welcome to smoke on the balcony or terrace.

    10.  Do we need to clean the property on departure?
    End of stay cleaning is included in the price, but you are expected to leave the property tidy on departure.  This includes stripping the beds (except Prestige Properties), emptying the bins and doing all washing up and clearing away.

    11.  Do I need to bring towels?
    One towel per person is provided in all properties, or two per person in Prestige Properties and those with hot tubs and/or saunas.  1 hand towel is provided for each basin.  Please check the "What's included" section of the relevant property to check.
