Watersports in Chamonix

White Water Rafting

The Mont Blanc region contains some renowned river rafting territory, with areas of varying difficulties to suit all ages and abilities. In Chamonix and nearby Passy you’ll find grade 2 family friendly rapids, whilst across in Italy the grade 4 Dora Baltea rapids offer much more of a challenge. This is a wilder rapid, suitable only for strong swimmers of over 15 years. Transport to Italy is included, so all you need to do is turn up and enjoy the ride. You’ll need to bring swimwear and a towel. All equipment is provided.

Chamonix rafting: Minimum age 10 years in Chamonix. Duration: 45 minutes
Passy rafting: Minimum age 7 years. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
Adrenaline rafting in Italy: Minimum age 15 years. Duration: Half day or full day

Canyoning

Experience splashing through streams, plunging into water holes, wading against torrents and sliding down waterfalls. Don’t worry if you’ve never done this before, as beginner (discovery) or more adventurous excursions (action) are available. You’ll need a head for heights, swimwear and a towel. All equipment is provided.

Hydrospeed

Let your guide take you down stream as you paddle your flippers whilst holding onto a special float. Head over low grade rapids along the river that runs through the centre of Chamonix. You’ll need to bring swimwear and a towel. All equipment is provided. No previous experience required although you will need to be a strong swimmer.

Minimum age 12 years. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes

Canoe-Raft & Airboat

Guided by an expert rafting instructor, experience the excitement of the two-person ‘Canoe-rafts’, or single person ‘Airboat’ where you’re in control. These are faster, quicker and easier to manoeuvre than a typical group raft, and they put the control firmly in your hands. What could be more exhilarating than weaving, whirling and shooting your way through the glacial rapids in one of the most stunning locations in the world. This takes place in Passy, which is a 20 minute drive from Chamonix centre or you can take the train and you’ll be collected from the station. You’ll need to bring swimwear and a towel. All equipment is provided.

Minimum age: 12 years. Duration: 1 hour 15 minutes
