About Abondance

This small mountain village is 30 kilometres from Lake Geneva, 15 minutes from the Swiss border and 1 ½ hours from Geneva. The Abondance ski resort is connected to the Portes du Soleil ski area, one of the largest in the world. Abondance has its own breed of cattle and is the birthplace of Abondance cheese, for which the village is renowned around the world.

Abondance is an authentic village centred around agriculture and spread over 6 hamlets. Winter and summer alike, Abondance and its inhabitants have a whole range of activities and gastronomic pleasures in store for you!

At the entrance to the Portes du Soleil ski area, the Abondance ski area sits in the heart of unspoilt nature. With 17 km of slopes ranging between 950 m and 1730 m altitude, this area offers all the joys of skiing for beginners and experienced skiers alike. Ideal for beginners, the Essert ski area in Abondance and the Ludoffaz snow front, located in the heart of the village, offer slopes designed for beginners and more, from green to black slopes to the toboggan run, there is something for everyone! More experienced skiers can escape for a day to the Franco-Swiss Portes du Soleil ski area, connected from Abondance by shuttles.

Many other activities are on offer - dog sledding, snowshoeing, ski touring, cross-country skiing with a 3 km loop and the unmissable ice driving circuit.

In the summer, the Abondance valley is an ideal setting for mountain biking - you can enjoy the 12 Porte de Soleil resorts, 600 km of slopes and 19 mountain bike lifts and more than 400 km of marked trails. There is also a via ferrata and climbing routes as well as numerous hiking possibilities and stunning mountain lakes.
